There's a Brand New Day on the Horizon

There’s a brand new day on the horizon
Everything’s gonna be just fine
There’s a brand new day on the horizon
And the whole world’s gonna be mine
I’m gonna tell old trouble, he’d better be moving on
Happiness is going to take his place around here from now on
The old dark clouds are gonna roll away
The sun is gonna shine
And the whole world’s gonna be mine
I’m gonna tell old heartaches, pack his bags and go
I’ve decided that I don’t want him hanging around no more
Don’t you know I said everything’s gonna be just fine
’cause the whole world’s gonna be mine.

The kids started with their new sitter today.  We packed away the tears from saying goodbye to Cari's precious sitter of two years and looked forward to both Cari and Chad spending the day together with their new friends.  Though we are sad that we must move on, we were encouraged by Christine to be thankful for what we had, and look forward to what is to come.

Thankfully, Cari has no problem looking forward to things to come. She is the most cheerful little girl. She gets excited if you tell her that we are going to walk from one room to the next.  Any 'event' is just that, an event. When we heard that Christine was going to be moving back to New Zealand, with heavy hearts, we put our feelers out for new opportunity; tacked on our antennas and searched for the best place to learn and grow.

We were so excited when we found out our dear friend, Kristy was looking to keep some kids in her home. She has two of the sweetest daughters herself and we knew that all of the kids would play well together.

However, we had to break the news to Chad that he was being let go from his office job.  He was pretty sad, as he loves being with Mommy all day, but getting work done is near impossible when he sits at my feet pulling up on my pants, wanting to be held.  He's not the social butterfly that he sister was at that age. She used to travel to each and every office in the building saying "Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!" repeatedly until you found something else for her to be stuck on.  Chad, however, not so much.  He cowered when people came in to play with him and was happy as a lark to sit in my lap and pull may hair all day.  So, sadly, we had to tell him that it was time to move on. A new day was coming, and he would make friends and discover that the world can be a happy place. Admittedly, it did break my heart when he pleaded to stay with me. How can you say no to those eyes? He gets everything he wants. EV.ERY.THING.

Thankfully, when we told him that Kristy was also going to have a little boy soon for him to play with, he was thrilled and could not wait to get in that house and get everything all set up for when this little guy arrives.

When we pulled in the driveway, Cari threw her hands in the air and exclaimed with a squeal of delight, "YAYYYYY!!!! We're at Mia and Macie's house!!!!!"

I know for a fact that the kids had a wonderful time.  The proof is in the pictures.  Cari, zonked after just a couple of minutes in the car (she played through her naptime at Miss Kristy's)

and Chad, happy as pie.  Not even a care in the world that he hadn't seen me all day.  He just talked and looked out the window, played with his feet, and gave me a smile or two when he saw me throwing my hand over my head blindly snapping pictures of him during the forever-red-lights.

Cari came home singing new songs about "Meows" and "Cows." At dinner, she said her favorite part of the day was reading books. When asked what book she read, she recited the entire Three Little Pigs story. And, when she requested a 'birthday hat' for the (non) 'birthday cake' that we had for dessert, she said she wanted to take hats tomorrow.  I asked her if she wanted to take some hats to Mia and Macie to share, and she very assuredly nodded and added with full enthusiasm "ANDDDD Miss Kwisty!" She then went on to tell us all of the things in her playroom that she was wanting to share with Mia and Macie.  She's definitely loving it!

Thank you, Kristy! Can't wait for days to come!!
