Top of the World

Something in the wind has learned my name
And it's telling me that things are not the same
In the leaves of the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me.
                                                     -- THE CARPENTERS

...continued...Part 3 of Michigan....

After visiting the railway, Cindy Lou's, and Uncle Billy's cabin, we decided the lay low the rest of the week.  We slumbered and relaxed.  Slept in, stayed up late, ate juicy food charred on the grill.  We took a couple of days down to the neighborhood lake to stick our toes in the sand, romp on the playground and splash in the water.

Cari did not care one inkling that the water felt like little bits of ice pelting through her skin and that she couldn't get a breath in because of her lungs closing up so tightly from clenching every fiber in her little 25 pound body.  She was IN that water and did not get out.

Cari was thrilled when she found an ol' mangled football laying on the beach. She immediately ran to it yelling, "Daddy! Fooball! Fooball! I throw it to you!" And that she did. She threw her little arm back behind her head as far as her little elbow would allow and chucked that ball as hard as she could. Straight into the ground a mere 4 inches in front of her.  It hit the sand with a small crunch, bounced back at her slapping her knees and brushing them with sand.
What can I say, she has her mother's athletic ability - I'm so proud of that girl.  She's smart though; picks up on things quickly. She bent down, picked up that ball with both hands and said, "Daddy! Throw ball not working! I bring it to you."  Off she went pushing sand out foot by foot towards the water. And, like all good Daddies do, this one grabbed the ball from her and coerced her into the water to "catch" the ball.  "Hey Cari, Watch this!" as he lobbed the football into perfect placement just one foot in front of her face.  All for the splendor of seeing the great big splash smack her in the face and then hear the squeals of delight and the words, "Ageen, Daddy! Ageen!"  So, like all good Daddies do, he did it again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

And, again.

And she still waited in anticipation for more. She never tires.  Nothing ever gets old.  My, to have the mind of a two-year old again. How fascinating and bright life must seem each and every day!

We also took time to enjoy sunsets

Nibble on some munchies

Construct masterpeices

Catch some wildlife

And attempt to make ourselves useful.

Chad got to meet his Great Boppa and Great Aunt Judy on the way home as we drove into the night.

We saw the sun set, and the sun rise, all in the same car trip.

One segment of Michigan still remains.......golf.  To come.
